Record-breaking success highlights global demand for Philippine-made food products
Filipino food exporters made a major splash at this year’s Gulfood 2025 trade show in Dubai, raking in over PHP7.6 billion (approximately USD 135 million) in confirmed sales and prospective deals. This marks a historic achievement for the country’s agri-food sector, demonstrating growing global recognition and demand for premium products from the Philippines.
Held annually, Gulfood is one of the world’s largest and most influential food and beverage trade exhibitions, drawing buyers, suppliers, and industry leaders from across the globe. This year’s event attracted more than 5,000 exhibitors from over 120 countries — and the Philippines stood out among them.
Led by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Philippine delegation showcased a wide variety of high-quality goods, including tropical fruits, coconut products, seafood, processed snacks, and organic items. Many international buyers expressed keen interest in the country’s sustainable and uniquely flavored offerings, particularly those aligning with health-conscious and natural food trends.
According to DTI officials, the impressive sales figures reflect not only the competitiveness of Filipino brands but also the effectiveness of ongoing government efforts to promote Philippine exports and strengthen ties with international markets. The delegation’s participation was part of a larger initiative to expand the global footprint of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the food sector.
Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual lauded the exporters’ performance, emphasizing that “this milestone is more than just a number — it’s a clear sign that Philippine food products are resonating globally.” He added that the government will continue to provide support through marketing initiatives, capacity-building programs, and international exposure opportunities.
With demand rising for authentic, diverse, and responsibly sourced food, Filipino producers are well-positioned to capture more market share abroad. As 2025 unfolds, stakeholders in the food export sector are optimistic about maintaining this momentum and building even stronger trade partnerships around the world.
